Fastpasses are a way to skip some or all of the line at Walt Disney World. You book a Fastpass for an ride or show then you get an a return time. For rides this will be an hour window. When the time comes for your Fastpass head to the attraction or show and look for the Fastpass line. A cast member will scan your Magic Band and you skip the Stand By line.
Cast members are normally strict about the times on Fastpasses. If you are early or late do not count on being admitted. Each member of your party needs a Fastpass to enjoy the attraction.
Fastpasses are free! Everyone who has a ticket to a Walt Disney World theme park gets them.
Almost everything! From thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain to shows like Festival of the Lion King. You can even use them to meet some very interesting characters like the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse.
Some parks do have a few limitations on Fastpasses. Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom have a tiered system. They have grouped the most popular attractions into tier one. You will only be allowed to select one attraction from that group.
At Epcot tier one attractions
- Frozen Ever After
- Illuminations: Reflections of Earth
- Meet Disney Pals at the Epcot Character Spot
- Soarin’ Around the World
- Test Track
Hollywood Studios Tier One Attractions
- Toy Story Mania!
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Slinky Dog Dash
Animal Kingdom Tier One Attractions
- Na’vi River Journey
- Avatar Flight of Passage
You get three Fastpasses per day. All three must be used in the same park! After you use your first three you can pick one in a different park.
It all depends on if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. If you are not then you can make your Fastpass selections 30 days in advance even if you are visiting the parks more than one day.
If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel you can make them 60 days in advance and then some. What I mean is this. You can start booking Fastpasses 60 days in advance of your check in date for the entire length of your trip (up to 10 days.) So if your trip is 10 days you can book your Fastpasses for the lasts day of your trip 60 days before the first day of your trip for a total of 70 days in advance. This is important if you are trying to get some of the hard to get attractions.
Whether your booking window opens at 30 days or 60 days it opens at 7 in the morning (Eastern Time.) It is important to do it as early as possible! Fastpasses are limited in number and do run out for the popular attractions.
You book your Fastpasses with either your desktop computer or your smart device. These instructions are for your desktop computer. They are very similar if you are using your smart device.
Before you can book any Fastpasses at Walt Disney World you need a My Disney Experience account. Make sure everyone you want to make Fastpasses for is on your Friends and Family list. If you are unfamiliar with My Disney Experience or hot to set it up head over here.
Got that all done? Okay let’s make some Fastpasses. Scroll down to My Plans and click Make Selections under the Fastpass+.
On the next page select get started.
Check the box for everyone you want to make a Fastpass for. If you have an attraction some people in your party want to experience but some do not leave them out. You can make a separate Fastpass for them. (I have removed last names in the photo below.)
When you have everyone you want to make a Fastpass for select Next at the bottom of the page. Then you will need to select a date. (If you already have some plans click the View My Plans button. You will get a pop up with your check in and check out dates plus any Advanced Dining Reservations or Fastpasses you have booked.) Click on the park you want to visit.
The next screen gives you some options. You will see all the attractions and shows that have Fastpasses available for that date. You also have the option to sort them by Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Select Time. Pick the one that works for you. By default Disney shows the earliest available time. Click the one you want.
After you click the one you want you need to confirm it.
After you confirm your Fastpass you can make a new one for the same day or pick some for a different day. If you are done just click No Thanks I’m Done.
Yes you can get more Fastpasses but first you have to use the three you have. Then you can book one more at a time. Unlike the first three the fourth one can be in a different park.
