Change Coming To Disney Quick Service Seating
Disney Quick Service Seating has always been first come first served (with Be Our Guest being the only exception.) Recent tests conducted at some Quick Service locations could indicate that is about to change.
Walt Disney World is the most popular theme park in the world. It should come as no surprise that there are often long lines for the rides. If you try to eat at the normal meal times you will probably find out there are long lines at the quick service restaurants too. After all everyone has to eat right?
When it comes to getting your grub on Disney offers two categories of restaurants, Table Service and Quick Service. Table Service includes buffets and venues where a server comes and takes your order. They tend to be the more expensive option.
Quick Service is more like your fast food option. You go to a counter, place your order and then wait (unless you are at Be Our Guest for breakfast or lunch.) When your food is delivered it is time to get a table and eat. Or at least that is how it is supposed to work.
How it really works is a lot of parties send someone to scout and hold a table. Someone else then gets in line to order and get the food. Sometimes waiting in the line can take 10 to 15 minutes. The result? You have people with food who can find no table while people with a table have no food. I have personally been frustrated by this many times.
Disney has probably been as aware of what was going on as anyone. Now they seem to be testing a way to reduce if not eliminate the problem. After all Disney wants you to have a magical experience so you come back.
As you can see in the picture below Disney is testing a new system that reserves table for parties who have food. When, and only when your food is ready, a cast member will help you locate a table. So far we can confirm they have tested this at Backlot Express at Hollywood Studios and Pizzafari at The Animal Kingdom. Could it be coming to more locations soon?
Of course this could cause some hardships on families with special needs but word has it Disney is addressing this issue.
What are your thoughts? Is this long-overdue or just unnecessary?
